A public university requested for a private cloud that responded to both current and growing IT requirements, allowing infrastructure consolidation and interoperability with existing virtualization infrastructure, without falling in redundancy or losing scalability and management easiness.
Syone’s technical diagnosis dictated OpenStack as the best solution, both in quality and price. With 70% Linux workloads, KVM meets the university’s needs with full integration with the storage solution GlusterFS.
Support for storage access protocols has also been guaranteed, comprising NFS, iSCSI and GlusterFS. Multi-hypervisor support includes KVM, VMware ESX and LXC.
In the end, backup (storage) has been fully guaranteed, as well as disaster recovery for some services. The services migration to the new infrastructure was completed and the university is responding well to the implementation of new IT services.
