Syone monitored 29,500 devices during Portugal’s national elections
Syone implemented a monitoring platform based on Zabbix for the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Internal Administration (SGMAI), with the aim of supporting national electoral processes and ensuring the operational continuity of the infrastructures associated with the Dematerialized Electoral Registers.
The solution developed by the company enables the monitoring of more than 29,500 devices distributed across 120 countries and 310 entities, supporting over a thousand users responsible for monitoring, information access, and incident response. The system ensures the stability of the infrastructures that support the electronic consultation of registered voters and guarantee the uniqueness of the vote.
To ensure the operational continuity of polling stations and a rapid response to any service failures on election day, Syone implemented a high availability and resilience architecture, available 24/7, based on Zabbix, Grafana, and MySQL Cluster platforms. The infrastructure includes redundant systems and automatic failover mechanisms, ensuring continuous monitoring and high fault tolerance.
“Electoral processes are decisive moments in our democracy, where nothing can fail. They also represent a true test of technological infrastructures. With the High Availability Architecture we developed, we ensure rigorous monitoring and the continuity of polling station operations, helping the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Internal Administration fulfil its legal obligations related to electoral processes, guaranteeing the technical conditions necessary for the proper functioning of elections and the normal course of democratic exercise,” says Eduardo Taborda, CEO of Syone.
Eduardo highlights that, despite the company’s strong export focus, Syone maintains a civic awareness and an ongoing commitment to the national technological ecosystem, strengthening its presence in critical public administration projects, where reliability and resilience are essential.
